These are the various platforms that MonetDB (and its add-on components) is compiled and tested on every night.

We gracefully thank the following institutions for providing access to the respective machines:

  1. Database & Information Systems Group at Universität Konstanz, Konstanz, Germany
  2. Knowledge Discovery Laboratory at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, MA, USA
  3. Universiteit van Tilburg, Tilburg, The Netherlands
  4. Database Systems Group at Technische Universität München, München, Germany
Infos:
  1. 32-bit OIDs are available on all 64-bit systems; however, due to limited availability of resources, we only test with 32-bit OIDs on some "representative" 64-bit systems.
  2. Yes, this is a Playstation 3 ;-)
Exceptions / Restrictions:
  1. Only one of the two compilers (GNU gcc & Intel icc on Linux; Microsoft Visual Studio C & Intel icc on Windows) is tested at a time, as only a single machine/CPU is available.
  2. For the time being, only MonetDB is supported, but neither SQL, nor any other add-on components.
In fact, we had to stop automatic testing on Cygwin as of Sep 01 2006. For quite some time, testing did not work reliably any more due to Cygwin-inherent problems; finally, we give up. We will consider investing more time and resources into reviving automatic testing on (and hence MonetDB support for) Cygwin in case/once there is any request for it.
  3. Testing on (and hence support for) MaxOS X 10.4 (Darwin 8.10.0) on PowerPC G5 had to be stopped as of January 2009, because we lost access to the respective machine.
Testing on (and hence support for) CentOS Linux had to be stopped as of March 2008, due to unpredictable behavor and unexplainable random crashes of tests (mainly due to unexplainable client/server socket(?) problems), that made testing unreliable and, hence, basically useless.
Testing on (and hence support for) 32-bit openSuSE Linux on i?86 platforms had to be stopped as of October 2007, because we lost access to the respective machine.
Testing on (and hence support for) 64-bit MaxOS X (Darwin) on PowerPC had to be stopped as of April 2007, because we lost access to the respective machine.
Testing on (and hence support for) 64-bit Debian & SuSE Linux on x86_64 platforms had to be stopped as of January 2007, because we lost the respective machines.
As of Dec 03 2005, automatic testing on AIX, IRIX and SunOS (Solaris/SPARC) had to be stopped. Hence, also all active support for these platforms has to be suspended. For AIX, our access to the machine has expired. For IRIX and SunOS (Solaris/SPARC), the slow system speed and ceasing maintenance made it unbearable for us to keep testing alive.
In case you plan/want/need to use MonetDB on any of these platforms, please feel free to contact us.
  4. Only 64 bit tested due to limited availability of / access to the respective machine(s).
  5. Not included in the nightly test system; compiled and tested "by hand" on an irregular basis.
